The past few weeks has seen an explosion of people thinking its OK the lift photos of other balloon decorators works and post them on their own sites without a care in the world and passing it off as their own work. I myself have found my work on other sites and I take action immediately and it usually starts with a phone call. Most of the time I get told it was only for display purpose only but the fact is that they are MY photos of MY work lifted from My site and passed of as their own work.

As you are all aware I have never had a problem with anyone using my photos for reference and showing them to their clients, event coping the decor and adding a new twist to it. After all we are all guilty of that and if I said I have never done the same then my noise would be along as Pinocchios, but stealing it a parading it on another website and passing it off as your own work, well I’m sorry but I have to draw the line somewhere.

Sue Bowler Blogged about it and I commented I would do a bit of research to find out just what is correct , so here it is…

BACI 2013

Back in January this year I was approached by Pioneer Europe and asked the head the decor for BACI. Over previous years this decor had been designed and installed by the teachers but with their heavy work load and total commitment to training  it’s one of those jobs that gets done at the last minute and causes stress to those involved, but this year was to be different as I was to head a team of volunteers to create some real impact decor…THE WOW FACTOR was about to hit BACI.

Now for those of you that know me you will know I am not afraid of large spaces as I have supplied decor for the N.E.C. , The I.C.C. , National Motor Cycle Museum and Ricoh Arena to name but a few.

It's a big space so it's going to need some BIG decor

As the brief came through from BACI HQ for their requirements it dawned on me that this job was going to need some extra help so without hesitation I booked Mike Harris CBA and without a shadow of a doubt I can tell you it was the right choice. So rather than ramble on about what we did this Blog will mainly be pictures, for as they say…a picture say a thousand words, ENJOY

Our home for the next 6 days. Not bad for a B & B and yes we did push the beds apart just that little bit more ( No cuddles for Mr Harris)

Once we had arrive we unpacked, a few beers and bed for tomorrow was going to be a long day.

Day 1 

We set our alarms for 6.30am and woke to a glorious sunny day and the view from our  room over looked the Piazza Della Signoria

Breakfast

We arrive at the venue at 8am each morning which was about a mile walk from the hotel and set about our mission. The delegates from the BACI conference were to help but by the end of the first day only 2 had turned up, but they were good. The language barrier was a problem but a quick demonstration was all that was required and the decor started to take shape. We had 4 main areas to decorate which was stage, ceiling, entrance and tables. By Monday at 4pm all areas had been done and it was time to party…

Qualatex 18″ round foils. 3 colour print.

A nice simple but very effective 3 colour print onto Qualatex 18″ round foils. Each colour is added individually and then left to dry. Once inflated they will be delivered to the venue late Wednesday night for a conference starting early Thursday morning.

The count down is on. 6 days to go till we both arrive in Florence and create the WOW Factor for all the BACI delegates. Entrance, Stage, Ceiling and Table decor is going to look stunning but Mike and Myself need your help.

FRIDAY 19th APRIL

The decor will start to take shape from 9am  as we tackle the stage with classic spirals, columns and giant galaxy balls. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a bit of spare time on their hands to get some real HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

SATURDAY 20th April

AM….Entrance decor to be constructed and installed. Another full day of creating stunning decor that will be a must to see

PM….Construction of ceiling decor using Tapers, Star Points, 5.5ft & 4ft Chloroprenes, 36″, 16″ and 11″ latex. Some great funky ideas and a lot of fun. The decor will be stored behind the stage and install early on Monday morning

SUNDAY 21st APRIL 

Table centre piece construction. 2 different centrepieces will be constructed in the morning session and later in the afternoon session. Come a get creative, work with new products and learn some new skills. It will be fun and don’t forget your camera

MONDAY 22nd APRIL

Everything has to come together, stage, entrance, ceiling and table decor. Rigging high in the ceiling will be headed by Mike Harris. This will be a very intense day and we will need as much help as possible.

So no matter what you are doing just come on down and give Mike and Myself a hand and have some fun. We have both been given some bright pink Qualatex polo tops to wear for the duration of the event. Mike will be wearing the tight fitting one as we have only been supplied with XL size.Matt 007 Lewis CBA

Air Filled Balloon Arches

Ikea Coventry used the power of visual balloon arches to kick start their Kitchen and Bedroom Easter promotion. The arches were installed at the entrance to each zone adding drama and excitement. All the arches were air filled. Qualatex balloons were down sized for the main body of the arch using 11″ standard latex sized to 7″ and the larger balloons at the base were 16″ sized to 11″. This will held keep the arches looking good as they need to last for 2 weeks but the store will keep in touch with us if repairs are need. The store is less than half a mile away from the office so its not as if we have the travel far. Any colour balloons could be used as long as they were yellow and blue.

It was an early morning start today as I have been commissioned to install an arch over the entrance to Mountain Warehousein Coventry which was suppose to open its doors at 10am this morning but due to adverse weather condition has been postponed until 10am tomorrow morning.  I took the opportunity to install the arch inside the main entrance which should grab attention to anyone passing the store. The store is at the Central Six Shopping Centre just outside the City Centre and looks fantastic and crammed with some great opening offers

The last of my sites has now gone live but it is still work in progress as I need to do the SEO for each section. As you know I produce a lot of banners for events such as Weddings, Christening, Birthdays and well as photo banners and I had the idea to create a site where you could choose a pre designed template and add you own wording or photo and see you banner take shape in front of you, so here it is, custombanner.co.uk. There are a few more section to add such as Anniversary Banners , First Communion and Confirmation Banners but for the time being the site will now take orders.

JSYK opened a brand new store today at the Arena Park Shopping Centre in Coventry and to make sure they were the centre of attention a large air filled 4 cluster swirl arch was placed over the main entrance. Yeph, think it did the trick. ( I’m not sure what they sell but the arch looked good )
