So Christmas and New Year Eve came and went without a hitch. Entered January with a bang and never stopped and before I knew it Float 2019 had reared it’s head and it was time to set off on my travel again.
First stop was Birmingham International Airport BHX for my first flight of the day to Amsterdam. The city is full of naked women and coffee shops….apparently
Check-in and Security took about 25 minutes so plenty of time for breakfast and a beer
The hop over to Amsterdam was about 40 minutes so landed in plenty of time for the next party of my journey, 9 hours to Minneapolis. I settled in for the long haul, sank a few more beers and took full advantage of the inflight entertainment
The flight was uneventful and we landed bang on time. The weather in Minneapolis was a tad cooler than that of the UK with the outside temperature of -19. It certainly took your breath away.
I had a 5-hour layover as this was my first port of call into America and I need to clear Customs and TAS. All completed in 40 minutes and checked into my next flight
5-hours is a long time on your own so I decided to head for the nearest burger bar and treat myself.
Finally arrived in St Louis after 19hours on the go and checked into the hotel, unpacked and made my way to the bar. Meet quite a few familiar faces and the drinks started to roll but time eventually caught up with me and it was time to rest.
For those of you who know me will know I don’t sleep well in hotels and with a 6 hour time difference I woke up at 3.30am, h well best get a coffee.
My roll at float 2019 was as a delegate instructor. Which means I pay full fees to attend float, pay my own hotel cost and flight but receive a payment for each delegate that attends my classes.
I did quite well as Steve Jones who runs Float allowed me to deliver 2 classes and both were will attended.
Just prior to teaching my Balloon Printing class on Tuesday evening Mrs McGovern and Mrs Shortreed thought it would be funny to tip an entire bag of glitter down my top and for those of you in the bar later that evening I can confirm glitter travels far and wide.
Also found these in my bags when I got home, not sure who they belong to.
The final night Gala and Awards. Absolutely Stunning decor buy the 3 main sponsors. I’ll let the pictures do the talking
Well done to all delegate who entered the competitions, I take my hat off to you all, you inspire me.
And then it was time to party in the bar
And soon it was all over, it was amazing and I loved it
Thursday was an exploring day so off I went all wrapped. St Louis here I come
And then it was time to fly home
Many thanks to Steve Jones for allowing me this amazing opportunity, I loved every moment of it
Thank you Qualatex for sponsoring my stock and Tristan Michael Savage from US Party all the Confetti
See you all at Float 2020
